In "The Walking Dead: Dead City," the first season picks up where the main series left off. Maggie's son, Hershel, is kidnapped by the Croat and taken to Manhattan, a place cut off from the mainland and crawling with walkers. To save her son, Maggie has no choice but to turn to Negan for help. Negan is on the run from Perl, an officer in New Babylon, because he killed five people. The two make their way into post-apocalyptic Manhattan, where they run into the Croat and his remnants of the Saviors, which also brings to light Negan's past—it turns out the Croat was once his interrogator. Later, Maggie and Negan lead a group of survivors in a direct assault on Madison Square Garden, but the Croat has already set a trap, unleashing a horde of walkers on them.
